Katai is a fairly tall, broad-shouldered gentleman with the appearance of a man of relatively healthy middle-age. He wears his long, golden-blond hair in a loose, shoulder-length ponytail with two or three loose strands of hair falling over his brow and sports a full Donegal-style beard on his square jaw. He also wears spectacles over his golden eyes, though whether or not he needs them is unknown. Katai frequently wears a white dress shirt and tie under a black vest with matching slacks and a brown overcoat.

This jutsu lets the user quickly switch places with another nearby object, such as a plant (normally a section of a log), an animal, or even another person within reach the moment an attack hits. This creates an optical illusion, making the enemy think the attack was successful. The user can then use this confusion to escape or launch a counter-attack. Exploding tags can be attached to the replacement for an added surprise. Basically all ninja know this technique.

By changing the surface of an object (ground, ceiling, wall, etc.) beneath an enemy (relative to them) into mud and creating a swamp, the user can sink his enemy into the mud. The adhesive, chakra-infused mud ensnares the enemy's body, making it almost impossible to recover one's strength and escape from there. The size and depth of the created swamp depends on the user's skill and the amount of chakra used, but if the user is an expert in this technique, it will always be possible to make a fair-sized swamp which is extremely effective against a great number of enemies or having to face gigantic creatures. The technique can also be used on a smaller scale to trap individual foes.

They will then follow up with a second set of hand seals, which will compress the space between the seal papers into a single black sphere the size of a baseball, which will then be sealed within a container prepared for the jutsu. The jutsu is extremely taxing, but is capable of removing and sealing up large areas and it's content.

The staff is made of the chakra of the user, and can be canceled if need be.

Katai's mother was a pearl diver, and his father was a ninja. Katai was pressured by his parents to become a ninja just like his father. Honestly his parents only had him so that he could grow up to be the shogun someday. They encouraged him, they got him whatever he needed but, Although his parents intentions were well they would often yell at Katai for imperfections on his exams. His father would beat him. His mother would neglect him. His parents did horrible things to him, but in the end he ended up being a prodigy of the ninja arts. Even though he excelled he was extremely depressed he would cut himself because even his parents hated him and he saw nowhere to run.
As an adolescent Katai's training only increased due to his parents continuing pressure on his skills. Eventually during his training, Katai met a Jonin named Kinnojo. Kinnojo told him that even though his parents pressured him so hard, he should still aim for shogun some day. Kinnojo was Katai's hero though out the rest of his adolescent life until Kinnojo was killed by rouge ninja in an attack on the Naruto village. Katai was devastated, but he still kept the ideals that Kinnojo taught him. Respect and Grace. When Kinnojo was confirmed dead by other ninjas of the village, Katai was assigned a new teacher named Yoshirou. Yoshirou didn't want to interfere with anything that Kinnojo had taught Katai so he attempted to remain just a teacher to him.
As a teenager, Katai decided that he did not want to be an ninja anymore. He left the academy, and got an apprenticeship to become an artisan. He left his parent to fully attend his training as an artisan. His father was furious, but Katai was somehow able to escape from him. As an artisan he men a girl named Suki. Suki and Katai became friends, and eventually they starting dating. Suki was a hunter, she would hunt for valuable meats in the forest around the village and sell it in her store. She was an apprentice like Katai was except for hunting instead of craftsmanship.
As an adult, a Jonin. Katai and Suki married, and had a child. They named him Akimoto. At the time Katai was a laborer that would sell his strength to the highest bidder and construct what they requested. Suki was a hunter. She would sell the meats she gathered at her store in the city. When Akimoto was just young Katai tried to get Akimoto into anything that was not being a ninja. After trying a few different professions, that all ended in failure. Katai decided that he would have to make Akimoto try to become a ninja. Katai sent Akimoto off to train in the academy and spent his time working.
Until he was picked by the elders when Shogun Hazama Hyuuga was assassinated, to take the political position of shogun. He was picked because they knew of his experience with the Naruto ideals and ninja techniques. Katai gladly accepted the position, after all that was his life time dream, to become the Shogun of the Imperial Village.
Today Katai wonders what Akimoto is doing out in the world. If he has finished his Ninja training. If he Likes being a ninja. If he even Stood with it. But at this point Akimoto must know about him somehow.
