By manipulating scorch-natured chakra, the user is able to create four large points, causing the Rasengan to take on the appearance of a giant fuuma shuriken, with the Rasengan in the center remaining a perfect sphere. The technique gives off a loud screech-like noise during, and after formation. If the user has enough control (7), it can be thrown. If not, to perform it, the user requires the aid of two clones; while the user provides the chakra, one clone is responsible for the shape transformation, and the other provides the nature transformation. Amaterasu can be used to substitute the fire.
The Rasenshuriken creates countless microscopic "strands" of fire that severely damage the body on a cellular level. It produces so many individual strikes that even an Uchiha is unable to count them all with the Sharingan. The fire-blades sever all nerve channels in the body, leaving the target unable to move after being struck. They also attack the entire chakra circulatory system, which cannot be repaired by any form of medical ninjutsu whatsoever. Because the Rasenshuriken does cellular damage to the user's arm when using the technique without throwing it, the Kage labelled it a kinjutsu and likens the technique's effects to that of poison. By the average person, this technique cannot be used twice without completely draining their chakra, which is why it is only used in the most dire of situations.

Once the shuriken has landed it evaporates all the water in the targets body. Also after making a contact it creates a dome that evaporates all the water in it and makes the temperature rise to extremities. The fire is so hot it will cause a crater in the ground or its target.
